Every good Instagrammer has an obsession with suspension bridges, right? When Holden and I planned our trip to Abbotsford, British Columbia last November, we included an overnight stop in downtown Vancouver, and I instantly starting trying to figure out how far away this put us from some of the famous bridges in the Vancouver area.

Our flight landed shortly before noon and we had some time to kill before checking into our hotel, so we decided to venture out to Lynn Canyon Park – Holden had visited a few years prior, and there was the most gorgeous suspension bridge, so naturally I was all for it!

From the Lynn Canyon Park parking lot in North Vancouver (3690 Park Rd, North Vancouver, British Columbia V7J 3K2), it was easy to find our way to the path and suspension bridge. We followed a hiking trail over the bridge and through the forest to a pretty pond, took tons of photos, and from there turned around and headed back the way we’d came. Including all the time we spent taking pictures, we were at the park for about an hour and 15 minutes. This hike is great for people of all levels and abilities, and absolutely anyone would love the views.

There was a cute little cafe right near the parking lot as well, but unfortunately it was closed (for the day or the season, I’m not sure). The ecology centre, however, was open!

This park was filled with gorgeous natural light and lush green trees alongside golden autumn leaves, and it was easily one of the highlights of the trip.

Afterwards, still having more time before we could check in to our hotel, we decided to head to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park as well, which was about a 10 – 15 minute drive from Lynn Canyon Park. What neither of us knew was that this suspension bridge was a little more… commercialized than Lynn Canyon. It cost $20+ to park in the lot, and an additional $54 PER PERSON to gain access to the park and suspension bridge. No thank you!

I’m sure the park is lovely, and the Capilano Suspension Bridge looks stunning on Instagram, but I was not about to pay that kind of money when we’d just had the same kind of experience for free at Lynn Canyon. Instead, we called the hotel and they told us we’d be allowed to check in early, so we headed right for downtown Van and some city adventures from there!
