My friend Crysta is one of those people who it seems like I was destined to meet, one way or another. We met through a mutual friend, she’d dated one of the same boys I had (a few years before me!), and I went to high school with her sister. Regardless of how, it was inevitable.
When Crysta asked me last spring if I would consider photographing her sister Chelsea’s wedding in November 2019, I gave it a lot of thought. I had never done anything like this before, other than a few casual shoots with my sister and my boyfriend – I primarily take landscape pictures, with the odd lifestyle still-life thrown in. Plus, it was a huge responsibility – this was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of day, and there would be no do-overs. I had to do a good job, on the first try.
Clearly, I ended up saying yes, or else this post wouldn’t exist.
I offered Chelsea and her fiancé, Gray, a complimentary engagement/couples session, which we did at the end of October, almost exactly a month before their big day.
After rescheduling once due to illness and then a location change due to cold + wind, we settled on a casual session inside their home. I loved that the outfits they wore complemented not only each other, but also the decor of their living room, and we worked together to incorporate some of the things that made them ‘THEM‘ into the shoot.
Below are the best of the best – stay tuned for a post of their wedding portfolio, coming up in a few weeks!
I hugely appreciated this opportunity, and the trust that Chelsea and Gray put in me. Wedding / couples photography isn’t something I’m sure I’d do again anytime soon, at least not without some proper training and equipment, however if shooting with me is something you’re interested in, please feel free to reach out!
